1. Structure and Composition of Hydraulic Multi-Petal Grab

 

 

The Hydraulic Multi-Petal Grab is mainly composed of the following parts:

Multi-Petal Jaw Plates (3-8 petals):
Made of high-strength, wear-resistant steel, the number of petals can be customized according to demand (typically 4–6 petals).
The shape of the jaw plates can also be customized (e.g., pointed tooth type, flat mouth type, or arc type) to adapt to different materials.

Hydraulic Cylinder:
Each jaw plate is driven by an independent or linked cylinder to ensure synchronous closure.
The number of cylinders usually matches the number of jaw plates (e.g., a 6-petal grab may use 3 cylinders, each driving two petals).

Hydraulic Control System:
Includes a hydraulic pump station, control valve, high-pressure oil pipes, etc., for precise control of opening and closing.

Rotating Mechanism (Optional):
Some grabs are equipped with hydraulic rotary motors to achieve 360° rotation, improving operational flexibility.

Protective Components:
Sealing and wear-resistant linings are included to extend the service life.

 

2. Working Principle of Hydraulic Multi-Petal Grab

 

 

  • Open State: The hydraulic system is depressurized, the cylinder retracts, and the jaw plates open under their own weight or with the assistance of a spring.
  • Material Grabbing: The grab descends onto the material pile. The hydraulic pump station supplies oil, the cylinder pushes the jaw plates inward to close, and the material is enclosed and grabbed.
  • Lifting: The cylinder pressure is maintained to ensure the grab remains closed. The crane then lifts the material to the target position.
  • Unloading: The hydraulic system releases pressure, and the jaw plates open under gravity or with the help of an auxiliary mechanism to complete unloading.
